What did you study in college?
I studied Math in both college and grad school, focusing on algebraic geometry.

What courses do you teach at College Prep?
Recently I have been teaching upper level courses such as Math 5i and Abstract Algebra, which are calculus classes focusing on single and multivariables. I also offer Linear Algebra, which introduces students to the beauty and whimsy of abstraction without losing track of algebra’s practical roots.

What was your pathway to teaching?
I’ve been involved in teaching since I was a teen—tutoring math and coaching tennis in high school. I loved passing on what I’d learned. In grad school, I taught nearly every semester. So, teaching after graduation felt natural—and I haven’t looked back.

How do you bring your personal passions into the classroom?
I try to share my deep appreciation for the beauty of math—not just its applications. I love when we explore aesthetically pleasing concepts or when students make cool discoveries.

I’ve also helped lead the Intraterm course Food and Rock Climbing. Though I came to climbing later, I love the sport’s supportive culture. I hope to develop an Intraterm trip that takes students outdoors to climb.

What do you love about teaching College Prep students?
College Prep students are wonderfully quirky, talented, and curious. They seek “aha” moments, which makes teaching here a joy.

In my Abstract Algebra elective, students take turns presenting and sharing “nuggets”—tidbits that are historical, cultural, or application-based. Their nuggets are well-researched, creative, and often funny. This gives math a dimension beyond what people expect, made possible by our students’ delightful nerdiness.

What is your favorite College Prep tradition?
I love the Snow Trip—watching seniors bond during their final semester. For a favorite memory: the first series of assembly announcements about Safeware Laptop Insurance. We all wait for the inevitable fake-laptop drop, and each time the comedic setup gets more creative.

What's something most people don't know about you?
I was born and raised in France. When I arrived in the Bay Area in 2005, I was struck by how many people spoke French—less so today.
