Why did you choose College Prep? College Prep for me was that moment when Harry Potter got his wand. I felt a sort of attachment. The environment, academia, and even appearance of the campus was enough for me to wake up at 6:00 in the morning and sit in a car for 40 minutes in order to get there. I really felt that I would belong there as opposed to all other schools. Never before have I been in constant company with so many nerds. Community defines the essence of CPS.

What is your favorite place on campus? The Learning Center. No matter if you have academic questions or not, you are always guaranteed to find your friends or make new ones any time of day in the Learning Center.

What are you involved in on Campus? When I first came to College Prep, I took debate and stuck with it. That class was so casual yet so constructive. In about a month, I had learned, but mostly practiced, enough to win two tournaments; and in more months, I was winning higher level tournaments and even breaking at invitationals. It was awesome.

I am also the science section editor of Radar. I was lucky to do it my first year, being amongst upperclassmen colleagues, but Radar was my first step into clubs. It also combined two of my favorite things: journalism and science.

I’m also a part of the Science Olympiad where we researched, innovated, designed, and built contraptions for a number of different competitive events. I competed with the team in March and had a memorable experience, I would encourage everyone to partake.

After the quarantine and distance learning started, I had enough time to pursue the long-planned creation of my own club with two friends of mine: CPS Model UN. CPSMUN was a lot of fun for the quarantine days and a perfect opportunity to practice my new-found passion of web design. Creating and running a club, and such a popular one at that, has been the zenith of my club experience.

I most recently recreated the CPS Schedule App to help students and teachers keep track of their customized school schedule—something cool to check out and a great reminder that any skill you have can be utilized for community benefit.

What has been your favorite class? This is a tough one, but I will have to say Asian Worlds. It was an inspiring class I would never think to classify as history, being so much more. It taught me historical facts and events of course, but at the same time argumentative writing, document analysis, researching, and a course load of cat puns. The deductive learning process and teacher-student engagement was purr-fect for a "history" class. Moreover, Mrs. Gumbert really made the class memorable.

Who is your favorite character from a movie/book/television series? Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. This answer tends to change a lot though.
